‘Tis the season for delicious recipes! From savory dinners to indulgent desserts, the holiday season always brings the best recipes that everyone in the family loves. I’ve always loved cooking and baking and trying new recipes, especially around the holidays, but now that I’m a mom I love it even more. Creating memories in the kitchen with the boys, especially as they get older, is so special. I always look forward to teaching them something new, watching them mix together ingredients, and the smiles on their faces as they try a bite of whatever we’ve made that day.
Whether you’re planning on celebrating the holidays at home or are heading to celebrate with your loved ones, creating memories around food is one of the best ways to celebrate the holidays. If you’re looking for a new recipe to make this holiday season, I’ve got you covered!
Recipes to Make This Holiday Season
White Chicken Chili
White chicken chili is always a crowd-pleaser. It’s warm, it’s easy, and it’s delicious. Made with chicken, diced green chilis, cream cheese, and beans, it’s not only delicious but creamy, too!
For my white chicken chili, you’ll need:
- 2 lb Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts
- 1 Yellow Onion (Diced)
- 24 Oz Chicken Broth
- 30 oz Northern Beans
- 8 oz Diced Green Chiles
- 15 oz Corn
- A handful of Chopped Cilantro
- 8 oz Cream Cheese
- 1/4 Cup Half & Half
- I tsp Italian Seasoning
- 1 tsp Garlic Powder
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1 tsp Pepper
- I tsp Chili Powder
- I tsp Cumin
Once you have all of your ingredients, you’ll add chicken breast to a crockpot with seasonings, onion, beans, chilies, corn, broth, cream cheese, and cilantro. Stir all of the ingredients together, cover your crockpot, and let simmer. Once it’s done, serve with desired toppings.
Nutella Chocolate Chip Cookie Ice Box Cake
This cake might be a mouthful to say, but it’s a fun and delicious cake to make for the holidays. It requires only a few ingredients, 15 minutes of prep time, and then it’s ready for the freezer before enjoying. All cookie and cake lovers will love this tasty recipe post-Christmas (or Thanksgiving!) dinner.
Light & Fluffy Cream Cheese Frosting
Sometimes it’s easier to just get the boxed cake mix at the store than make a cake from scratch. And guess what? It’s equally as delicious! Whenever I make a cake from a box, I like to give it a little something by whipping up a cream cheese frosting instead of getting store-bought frosting. For my cream cheese frosting, I use the following ingredients:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 8 oz. cream cheese
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 4 cups powdered sugar
Once you have all of your ingredients, combine your butter and cream cheese in your mixer (or by hand!) until creamy. Add in your vanilla extract and salt until combined and then add in your powdered sugar.
Super quick, easy, and delicious! During the holidays we love adding in food coloring to make our cake a little more festive and will top the cake with fun ingredients like cranberries, strawberries, or sprinkles.
Stovetop Potpourri Recipe
Hosting family and want your home to smell absolutely delicious? Make stovetop potpourri! This is one of my favorite scent hacks and it’s oh-so-simple. All you’ll need is:
- Orange slices
- Cinnamon sticks
- Nutmeg
- Allspice
- Cinnamon bark
- Cloves
- Apple slices
- Fresh rosemary (optional)
Once you have all of your ingredients, slice up your oranges and apples and put them in a pot of water on the stove. Let simmer and enjoy the delicious scent.
Homemade Cheesy Spaghetti-O’s
Half Baked Harvest can do no wrong with any of her pasta recipes and this easy at-home spaghetti-o’s recipe is to die for. It’s cheesy, and dare I say it might be better than the real thing? Whether you’re having a quiet night at home or are looking for a delicious side for your next family party that everyone will love, this recipe can do no wrong!
