Fun Summer Activities for Kids

The temperatures are starting to rise, kids are finishing up school for the year, and parents everywhere are breathing a collective sigh of relief that the weather is finally nice enough for our kids to get outside to play.

Getting outside to play with the kids is one of my favorite parts of the day but sometimes it can be hard to figure out what exactly we’re going to do. Running around only entertains them for so long! This year, to avoid the question of “how the heck are we going to entertain the kids today?”, we stocked up on some fun outdoor activities to keep the kids entertained and help them get their energy out!

Fun Summer Activities for Kids

Water Play

Our family is huge fans of anything water-related! Not only is it a quick and easy way to keep the kids entertained for hours, but it’s also a great way to beat the heat. We recently added this dino play center to our rotation and both kids love it so much! It’s under $50 and has a couple of different water features that are super fun. We also love this 3-in-1 water table, it’s perfect for little ones! It also has bubble and foam accessories which is great for sensory play.

Plan a Picnic

When the weather is nice, we love taking our lunch (and sometimes even breakfast!) outside. It’s a great way to get fresh air and some vitamin D! If you don’t have a good backyard set up for an at-home picnic, pack up a basket and head to the local park.

Enjoy Your Swing Set

Swing sets are a must-have if you have kids, but they’re often the one activity that gets forgotten about the most. Don’t let that happen, they’re too fun to forget about! And you don’t just have to play on the swings. If your swing set has a little clubhouse, tap into your inner child and make up a game or play house.

Get a Trampoline

I know everyone has different views on trampoline’s but this one for little kiddos is seriously the best! It’s super low to the ground, has protective netting around it, and can even be used inside during the cold winter months. I can never say no to a fun outdoor toy that can be used year-round by simply moving it indoors!

Paint Rocks

I’m tapping into my own childhood with this one! Growing up, painting rocks was one of my favorite activities. I would spend hours looking for the perfect rock, painting it, and finding the perfect place to put it afterward. We’ll definitely be doing this with the kids this summer and I cannot wait to see what they create!
