I absolutely love living in a warmer climate but there is truly no better feeling than being able to experience seasons, and most importantly, fall. There’s just something about fall fashion that I love so much more than the other seasons. Maybe it’s the cozy layers, maybe it’s the patterns. There’s just so many fun trends and styles to try! Now that fall is officially here in Alabama, I could not be more excited to finally be able to pull out all of my favorite jackets, cozy layers, and booties!
Since the cool weather doesn’t last for too long, I like to stick to the essentials when shopping for the fall season and mix in a few fun pieces that are on the trendier side each year. This gives me a good foundation without feeling like I’m wearing the same pieces over and over again. Anyone else?
Whenever I share anything fall related on Instagram, I always get so many responses so I thought it would be fun to share my fall wardrobe essentials with you so you can give your fall wardrobe a refresh!
Fall Wardrobe Essentials
When shopping for fall, my biggest tip is to start with some geat basics. These are going to be the pieces that make up the foundation of your fall wardrobe and from there, you’ll be able to add in some fun, trendy pieces like this plaid topcoat.
Relaxed Denim
If you ask me, denim is a fall staple. After wearing dresses all summer long, I always love finding new ways to style my favorite denim for the cool weather. Whether it’s paired with a pair of booties, pumps, or flats, there are so many great shoe options to pair with denim! Some of my favorite places for shopping relaxed denim are Red Dress Boutique, Pink Lily, Walmart, and Nordstrom.
Practical Footwear
Fall weather can be unpredictable, which is why it’s so important to have practical footwear in your rotation. Personally, my go-to shoe for fall is a heeled bootie. I love how easy they are to dress up or down, depending on what’s on my schedule for the day. I recently got this pair from Amazon and love them so much!
Leather Handbag
A leather handbag one of those items every women should own. They can be used year round and will never go out of style! They’re especially great for the fall and winter seasons. I’m partial to black just because I tend to lean towards darker colors come fall. If you’re going to be investing in a bag, like my Givenchy satchel, consider the colors in your wardrobe and which hues you lean towards most often. If you’re investing in a designer bag for the first time, I can’t recommend opting for a neutral such as white, black, or tan enough!
Elevated Outerwear
Once fall rolls around, one of the most frequently worn item in your closet is going to be outerwear! Since I wear a lot of neutrals and solid colors, this is where I like to incorporate patterns and color. A few good outwear style options are moto jackets, leather jackets, and top coats. This fall, I ended up picking up this plaid jacket and love it so much. It’s affordable, cozy, and oh so chic! I love that I can dress it up over a dress for date night or wear it more casually with joggers and a sweater for school drop offs.
Cotton Tees
Cotton t-shirts are a must have no matter what time of the year it is, but they’re also crucial for your fall wardrobe. They can be worn alone or layered under a cozy sweater, blazer, or cardigan. I love this long sleeve cropped tee because I can wear it with skirts, jeans, or leggings! If you’re looking for a good quality cotton tee that doesn’t cost an arm or leg, give SHEIN, Walmart, and Target a try!
